QUAILE James - 1890 - 11/08/1890 – Age 57 – Stoneman. Whitehaven, Whitehaven Colliery Co., Whitehaven, Cumberland. Fall of stone. 2.0 pm.

QUARTERLY William - 1897 - 21/07/1897 – Age 18 – Haulier. Ferndale No. 5, D Davis and Sons Ltd., Glamorgan. Run over by tram containing cask of water, drawn by a horse in his own charge.

QUARTLEY James - 1894 - 23/06/1894 – Age 30 – Ripper. Albion, Albion Steam Coal Co. Ltd., Pontypridd, Glamorgan. By an explosion. 290 killed.

QUEEN James (non-fatal) - 1891 - 03/10/1891 – Reddsman. Govan No. 5, William Dixon Ltd., Glasgow. Lanarkshire. Explosion of blasting powder by a spark from his lamp.

QUEEN James (non-fatal) - 1891 - 25/03/1891 – Age 64 – Collier. Earnock, John Watson Ltd., Lanarkshire. Fall of stone. 49 days off.

QUEEN John (non-fatal) - 1890 - 27/12/1890 – Miner. Lauchope No. 1, Lauchope Coal Co., Holytown, Lanarkshire. Fall of roof in working place. 2 injured.

QUEEN Joseph - 1891 - 18/02/1891 – Age 16 – Miner. North Motherwell No. 2, Merry and Cuninghame, Motherwell, Lanarkshire. Fall of roof at face.

QUEEN Joseph - 1896 - 19/02/1896 – Age 17 - Dirt picker. Wallyford, Deans and Moore, Edinburgh. In crossing the travelling table, to reach a dross waggon, his clothes were caught between the plates and he was drawn under and strangled. He went through the fence put up for protection.

QUEEN Peter (non-fatal) - 1891 - 11/11/1891 – Age 24 – Chainman. Ross Thomas, Barr, Lanarkshire. Explosion of gas. 22 days off.

QUIGLEY James (non-fatal) - 1890 - 29/07/1890 – Age 15 – Drawer. Broxburn, Broxburn Oil Co. Ltd., Linlithgow. Struck by tub. 14 days off.

QUIN James (non-fatal) - 1890 - 06/05/1890 – Age 32 – Brusher. Brownyside, Lanarkshire. Fall of brushing. 105 days off.

QUIN James (non-fatal) - 1892 - 14/10/1892 – Roadsman. Blair No. 2, Eglinton Iron Co., Dalry, Ayrshire. Explosion of firedamp.

QUIN Patrick (non-fatal) - 1890 - 30/06/1890 – Drawer. Orbiston No. 2, Summerlee and Mossend Iron and Steel Co., Bellshill, Lanarkshire. Run over by a hutch while drawing infront of it.

QUIN Thomas - 1895 - 02/04/1895 – Age 40 – Metalman. Edith, Crompton and Shawcross, Lancashire. Inspection made and inquest attended. He was engaged cutting bottom on a roadway near the face when a portion of roof fell upon him. They had previously knocked the props out, supporting the roof, at that point thinking it to be secure.

QUINN G. - 1895 - 27/05/1895 – Age 50 – Collier. Monk Bretton, Monk Bretton Coal Co., Yorkshire. Fall of roof.

QUINN James - 1894 - 15/11/1894 – Age 27 – Labourer. Newbattle, Lothian Coal Co. Ltd., Edinburgh. Crushed by bogie.

QUINN Michael - 1896 - 02/10/1896 – Age 21 – Putter. Newbottle, Margaret Lambton Collieries Ltd., Co.Durham. When getting on to the limers the pony started away suddenly and he was knocked down and dragged 10 yards and was so severely injured that he died the following day.

QUINN Patrick - 1895 - 04/10/1895 – Age 32 – Stallman. Markham No. 1, Staveley Coal and Iron Co. Ltd., Nottinghamshire. Fall of side. He was taking down coal, that had been holed, and when stepping back after taking a sprag out, the coal fell and crushed him against a prop which was supporting the roof. He died the next day.

QUINN R. - 1897 - 13/05/1897 – Age 26 – Hurrier. Barrow, Barrow Haematite Steel Co., Yorkshire. Fall of roof.

QUINN Thomas - 1899 - 26/01/1899 – Age 44 - Engine tenter. Duncan’s Granite Quarry, James McIver Co., Tyrone, Ireland. He was crushed by the flywheel of the portable engine to the stone breaker, the steam shut off on the centre to move readily  but the screw broke. Deceased turned the flywheel to pass off the centre when the engine started. Probably due to defect in valve which allowed the steam to pass.

QUINNERY E. - 1895 - 24/10/1895 – Age 24 – Hurrier. Aldwarke Main, John Brown and Co., Yorkshire. Fall of roof. Died 25th Oct.
