Gas backed out from the goaf and fired at an open light allowed at the Ginney wheel where a good light was wanted, safety lamps being used elsewhere by the miners. The backing out of the gas appears to have occurred from expansion consequent on the rise of temperature and considerable decrease in atmospheric pressure with the breaking up of the frost. 1 killed 2 injured.
