Fall of roof breaking away from top slip running over the coals which were being holed at the time. The stall had only three days previous to this resumed work after standing during a long strike. 4 killed.

ALLEN Thomas - 1875 - 16/01/1875 – Age 44 – Fireman. Albert, David Rose, Moxley, Stafford. Premature explosion of shot. Supposed to have accidently ignited the straw fuse instead of the match.

ALLPORT James - 1877 - 10/03/1877 – Age 51 – Deputy. Saltwells, Earl of Dudley, Dudley, Worcester. Explosion of gas. He had got down a mass of insecure coal and went to examine the new roof and unexpectedly fired a little gas which had been given off. Injured 5th Died this day.
