EDDY John jnr. - 1873 - 14/02/1873 – Age 14 - Miner. Providence (metalliferous), Providence Mines Co., St. Ives, Cornwall. He and another miner were ascending in the skip instead of waiting to go up by the man engine and he received a blow probable from some projecting timber.

EDWARDS Joseph - 1879 - 29/12/1879 – Age 56 - Dataler. Bettisfield, Bettisfield Colliery Co. Ltd., Bagillt, Flint. He had got down some coal from the side of the road baring a slip in the roof from which a stone fell on him.

EDWARDS Margaretta - 1875 - 21/12/1875 - Dressing girl. Wye Valley (metalliferous), Wye Valley Mining Co., Montgomeryshire. Crushed in the dressing machinery. It was a windy day and it is supposed that some portion of her clothing was blown into the machinery and so she was dragged in. Female.

EDWARDS Samuel - 1875 - 21/05/1875 – Age 46 - Pitman. Snailbeach (metalliferous), Snailbeach Mining Co., Shropshire. They were repairing some of the timberwork of a shaft. The capstan rope by which they were suspended in the shaft gave way at the coupling and this precipitated the cage to the bottom of the shaft, 150 yards. The rope was evidently defective and had been used too long. The defective condition was not noticed by Edwards whose duty it was to examine it. 2 killed.

EDWARDS Thomas - 1870 - 04/10/1870 – Age 35 – Blacksmith. Ebbw Vale, Ebbw Vale Co., Ebbw Vale, Monmouth. Fell off ladders in the Wain y Pond pit now sinking for a supply of water from the Farewell Rock.

EDWARDS Thomas - 1870 - 05/09/1870 – Age 31 - Drawer. Oak, Broncoed Colliery Co., Broncoed, Mold, Flint. An explosion.

EDWARDS W. - 1870 - 17/05/1870 – Age 39 – Deputy. Cop Hall, J Bagnall and Sons, West Bromwich, Stafford. He was getting down a rate of coal with a crow bar under which he unfortunately slipped or jumped when the coal fell and killed him on the spot.

ELKS William - 1874 - 26/01/1874 – Age 40 – Pikeman. Portobello, W Ward and Sons, Willenhall, Stafford. Fall of roof in new coal mine goaf or gob into which he ventured too far to reach a lump of coal and thus lost his life.

ELLEN Ralph - 1877 - 30/05/1877 – Age 27 - Miner. Lofthouse (ironstone), JW Pease and partners, Saltburn, Yorkshire. Fall of ironstone while cutting out a leg it came away without warning.

ELLERINGTON J. - 1870 - 01/11/1870 – Age 50 - Hewer. Elswick, W Cochrane and Co., Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland. Fall of stone.

ELLERSHAW Joseph - 1875 - 01/12/1875 – Age 27 – Sinker. Towneley, Brooks and Pickup, Burnley, Lancashire. Breakage of rope holding a scaffold on which he and others were at work widening the shaft.

ELLERY John - 1874 - 30/06/1874 – Age 39 – Quarryman. Chillaton (metalliferous), Messrs Simms Bros., Milton Abbott, Devon. The two men were killed by the fall of some overburden which rolled down the side and struck them. 2 killed.
