GAIR Thomas - 1876 - 18/09/1876 14 - Drawer. Lochgelly (ironstone), Lochgelly Iron and Coal Co., Auchterderran, Fife Supposed to have fallen off ladder while descending small shaft. The pit was 42 feet deep. There were three 15 feet ladders at the first and second were found lying at the bottom of the shaft.

GARDNER John - 1873 - 18/09/1873 – Age 35 - Roadsman. Ashgill, Andrew Spencer, Dalserf, Lanarkshire. He and another man had gone on the cage at the surface to descend the pit. The engineman took the cage up instead of down and he getting alarmed jumped out and fell to the ground. The other man stayed on the cage and escaped unhurt.
