PROTHERO Elizabeth - 1878 - 17/06/1878 – Age 17 - Tip girl. Ty-Trist, Tredegar Iron Co., Monmouthshire. She was cleaning the sidings on the surface and just before the accident was told by the man in charge to move out of the way as he was about to shunt some waggons. She did not do so and was crushed to death by them. Female.

PURSTOW Edwin - 1875 - 07/06/1875 – Age 45 – Watchman. South Roman Gravels (metalliferous), South Roman Gravels Mining Co., Shropshire. He went to his duties in a state of intoxication and although told by his fellow watchman that all was made right below, as soon as his colleague left the mine he went underground. His body was found it was concluded that he had slipped from the ladder.
