Colliery re-opened by Coal Investments 25th April 1995, took over by Midland Mining June 1996, and closed January 2000. The Coal Investments firm although run by Malcolm Edwards an ex NCB official in marketing underestimated the selling part of the exercise and the investment needed to continue and the project failed. However the colliery would be re-opened again.
