STRAIDE Samuel - 1869 - 10/06/1869. Ferndale, David Davies and Sons, Pontypridd, Glamorgan. Explosion of gas from a blower. 53 killed.
STRAIN Charles - 1867 - 03/06/1867 – Age 48 – Roadsman. Windyedge (ironstone), Robert Stewart, Motherwell, Lanarkshire. Engineman lowered the cage onto 15 fathoms of water and the cage being covered they could not get out. It was the Engineman’s neglect and he was tried for manslaughter before a jury and acquitted. 2 killed.
