  • Charles Biggin (40) was adjusting the gauge of the rails in the pit bottom when the cage struck a rail sticking out and fatally injured him on 20/11/1901
  • Thomas Shepherd (21) a banksman, was fastening a door on a railway wagon and was run over by a set of 11 empty wagons on the surface 25/3/1902
  • Ernest Atack (19) the assistant onsetter was struck by an iron bar that was protruding into the shaft when it was caught by the descending cage 18/4/1902

  • William Henry Tyler a child of 20 months was run over by a wagon on the surface sidings on 9/8/1903
  • Arthur Mitchell (38) and John James Kellitt (30) and another were were withdrawing supports at 11pm on Monday 16/5/1904 when Mitchell dropped his lamp damaging it and ignited some gas, and they were all burned but all walked out to the pit bottom and after riding the shaft were transported home by the colliery ambulance and later to Mansfield hospital where Mitchell died of his injuries on Sunday 22/5/1904 and Kellitt died on Tuesday 24/5/1904. No mention is made of the other collier who obviously was not so severely burned. The coroner criticized the report books and his stated his dissatisfaction with the ventilation to the Manager William Hay
  • Enoch Burns (26) strained himself and burst a blood vessel lifting a tub on 22/9/1903, died of consumption 12/6/1904

  • William Edward Limb (45) and Arthur Burton (36) and William Phillips fell down the shaft 200 yards (183m) at 5.40am on 26/3/1907.... 2 others were badly injured out of the bantle of 14 but survived. It was shown that there were no gates on the cage, only a loose bar at waist high at either end of the cage. A strand on one of the conductor ropes was sluffed by the cage. The rope wedged lifting the cage and 3 men fell out down the shaft. Arthur Burton was decapitated and his body was a bag of bones, William Limb a stallman left a widow and 6 children and William Phillips a day man left a widow and 4 children

Tragically a child of only 20 months, William Henry Tyler was run over by a wagon whilst playing on the sidings 9/8/1903.
