My Grandfather, Alex Rowat Maxwell, Was A Coffin Bearer In The Dumbreck Disaster

My Grandfather, Alex Rowat Maxwell, now deceased formerly of 18 Shuttle St., Kilsyth was a coffin bearer in the Dumbreck Disaster. He passed in Aug 1997 at the age of 86. He told me many a story about the work at Dumbreck Pits. God Bless those who died and those who carried on. My father James Maxwell was 5 years old at that time and is now retired and 81 years. He also speaks of the Dumbreck Pits.

From Canada to Scotland we are the descendants fae Dumbreck.

Robert Maxwell
