Skegness Miners’ Holiday Camp

Our holidays were taken at the Miners’ Holiday Camp. Photo below shows Stephanie, my wife, with Nigel and Sandra together with the entrance to the camp in the background, the first thing we saw on arriving at the camp.

The photo below shows my family enjoying our holiday at the camp. The sand castle of Great Britain won us 10 shillings
first prize.

Stephanie, Nigel and Sandra

We used to have money stopped out of our wages each week to pay for our holidays; we had very many happy days at this camp both my family and many, many more miners families.

I left Ilkeston to become Gedling Collier Fire Officer, see photos below of my teams competing in the area finals.
