This colourful scene shows skaters on a frozen pond at Lynemouth Colliery, against an industrial backdrop featuring coal waggons, colliery buildings and pit wheels. Jimmy Floyd was a member of the Ashington Group, also known as the ‘Pitmen Painters’.
